Supporting undergraduate research, academic collaboration and evidence-based improvements in haematology and transfusion medicine.

Aston Haematology Society aims to provide medical students with opportunities to develop practical research skills through structured, collaborative projects.

Our research programme includes evidence synthesis, clinical audits, quality improvement, medical education and analysis of publicly available healthcare data. Projects are developed with appropriate academic or clinical oversight, and participation is governed by transparent selection and authorship policies.

No prior publication experience is required. We welcome interest from students who are willing to learn, communicate reliably and contribute consistently.

    Complete the short form using your Aston University email address. No account or sign-in is needed.

    Hear from the leads

    The project leads review applications and check eligibility manually. Successful applicants are contacted by email.

Eligibility is checked by people, not by automated name matching. You can submit the form even if your name is not on the public committee page.

Our approach

Research Integrity and Authorship

Projects must have a clear question, appropriate oversight and applicable governance checks before work proceeds. An expression-of-interest round is not confirmation that a study has received approval.

Research participation does not guarantee authorship. Authorship will be determined by substantive contributions in accordance with the project’s agreed authorship policy and relevant journal requirements.

Selection, publication and authorship are not guaranteed. Contribution expectations will be discussed before formal project commencement.
