Meet the students leading the Society.

Iman supports the planning and delivery of the Society's educational, networking and social events as an Events Officer.

BioIman is a Year 2 medical student keen to explore haematology beyond the core curriculum. With an interest in accessible teaching, clinical case discussions and useful revision resources, Iman hopes to bring enthusiasm, creativity and a collaborative approach to the Society's events programme.

Gurtejas supports the planning and delivery of the Society's educational, networking and social events as an Events Officer.

BioGurtejas is a second-year medical student passionate about making haematology accessible and engaging. Through roles as a Student Representative and Outreach Lead, Gurtejas has developed strong communication and organisational skills by gathering student feedback and coordinating initiatives. They look forward to bringing that experience to the Events Team.

Mafaaz supports the Education Team's teaching, revision and skills-based sessions as an Education Officer.

BioMafaaz is a Year 2 medical student whose interest in haematology grew from exploring oncology and the specialty's role in cancer care. As a former Student Council President and president of several school clubs, Mafaaz brings experience of organising events and bringing students together.

Vismay supports the Education Team's teaching, revision and skills-based sessions as an Education Officer.

BioVismay has an endless fascination with precision, clarity and the cutting edge future of medicine, which is why haematology quickly caught his attention. For him, the specialty goes far beyond analysing slides; it is a dynamic field helping pioneer the future of patient care. He is thrilled to join the committee and help Aston medical students discover how extensive and exciting haematology can be. His three main interests are medicine, aviation and cricket.

Huzayfah supports the Education Team's teaching and public education work as an Education Officer.

BioHuzayfah is a first-year medical student who hopes to spread awareness of haematology and help make the subject more accessible to other students.

Aryan supports the Research Team's student research opportunities and academic skills programme as a Research Officer.

BioAryan is a Year 3 medical student interested in how haematology connects laboratory science with patient care. He has helped organise talks and educational opportunities as a GP Society Outreach Officer and supported peer teaching through PALS, experience he hopes to bring to the Research Team.

Jesse supports the Research Team's student research opportunities and academic skills programme as a Research Officer.

BioJesse is a third-year medical student at Aston University with a particular interest in haematological malignancies, including how abnormal blood cells develop and how they are treated. As Phase 1 Lead of the Afro-Caribbean Medical Society (ACMS), he has helped organise events and liaise with doctors from a range of specialties.

Shriya supports the Research Team's student research and academic skills work as a Research Officer.

BioShriya is a Year 2 student interested in exploring haematology beyond the curriculum, with experience from a research observership. She also has experience organising activities and working with students and staff, which she would love to bring to the Society.

Aaryan supports the Society's communications, event promotion, social media and digital presence as an Officer.

BioAaryan is a Year 3 medical student interested in haematology's links between laboratory science and clinical medicine. Previous committee work with Aston Islamic Medical Society and tutoring experience developed skills in promotion, communication and organisation, which Aaryan hopes to apply to clear, useful Society communications.

Ragini supports the Society's communications and event promotion as a Marketing & Communications Officer.

BioRagini is a Year 2 medical student with an interest in exploring haematology beyond the curriculum and making the subject more engaging and accessible for students. As the Marketing & Communications Officer, she helps bring the Society’s events and initiatives to life through creative content, promotion and networking. She loves getting creative, trying new ideas and making sure no one misses out on what the Society has to offer!

Sumiran supports relationships with clinicians, speakers, organisations and potential partners as a Partnerships & Sponsorship Officer.

BioSumiran is a Year 2 medical student interested in haematology and in creating practical academic opportunities. As Outreach Officer for Aston's Gastrointestinal Society, Sumiran approached other university societies and helped secure a UCL collaboration for a national undergraduate conference, bringing directly relevant partnership experience.

Tanya supports the Partnerships & Sponsorship Team as an Officer.

BioTanya is a Year 3 student who wants to create more opportunities for students to explore haematology. She enjoys working in a team and helping to plan activities that encourage participation. She hopes to bring that collaborative approach to the Partnerships & Sponsorship Team.
